Festivalul Internațional George Enescu și Concursul George Enescu

George Enescu (1881-1955) is the first Romanian composer whose music belongs to the universal cultural heritage. He was a composer, violinist, pianist, conductor and teacher, regarded as one of the greatest composers of the 20th century and Romania's most important musician. In order to honour his memory, the Romanian Government through the Ministry of Culture is organising an international festival benefitting from the presence of exceptional international artists. The official opening day of the “George Enescu” festival took place on September 4th 1958, merely three years after George Enescu’s passing. Among the music world’s personalities that were present for this first edition of the show were performers such as Yehudi Menuhin, David Oistrah, Halina Czerny-Stefanka, Nadia Boulanger, Monique Haas, Iacov Zak or Claudio Arrau, and conductors such as Sir John Barbirolli, Carlo Felice Cillario or Carlo Zecchi. The event currently occurs once every two years, being accompanied by an international contest.

In early 2013, Ţuca Zbârcea & Asociaţii became the Official Legal Services Provider to the “George Enescu” Festival, covering all legal matters such as contracts, intellectual property, media and advertising, liability concerns etc. Our team offers legal assistance and representation services in the court proceedings regarding the infringement of the client’s IP rights relating to the official website of the “George Enescu” international festival and competition, further to the illegal use by two Romanian companies of an internet domain names containing the Festival Enescu’s name. In addition, the firm successfully advised and represented the organisers in a dispute with the Historic Auction House in connection with the auctioning of manuscripts and a violin that had presumably belonged to Romanian composer George Enescu.
