Overview
Ruxandra Niță, Managing Associate at Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații, is mainly specialised in international arbitration, with a strong background in corporate and commercial law as well.
As regards her relevant international arbitration practice, Ruxandra was part of the core legal team involved in two major international arbitration cases against Romania submitted for resolution before the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). She has also represented clients in arbitrations before other reputed arbitral forums such as ICC and VIAC. She has broad experience in disputes derived from concession contracts, sale and purchase agreements, privatisation agreements, constructions agreements governed by FIDIC rules.
She was nominated as Rising Star in Commercial Arbitration in the Euromoney's Expert Guide Rising Stars, 2021 and 2022 publications.
Furthermore, Ruxandra has relevant experience in corporate and commercial law and, more recently, she has developed a strong expertise in matters concerning anti-money laundering (AML) regulations and international sanctions.

Relevant Matters:
- Member of the legal team advising companies activating in the natural resources sector in an arbitration case brought against Romania before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). The dispute concerns a USD 4 billion investment claim regarding the development of the largest mining project in Romania.
- Member of the legal team successfully assisting and representing a Governmental authority in an arbitration case brought before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) by Turkish investors regarding the privatisation of the company IMUM Medgidia. The claims for damages in this case amounted to more than EUR 28,000,000.
- Member of the legal team successfully assisting and representing a company part of a major international construction group in an arbitration case governed by ICC Rules, in connection with a FIDIC Contract related to the modernisation of the largest Romanian airport. The value of the dispute was of approximately RON 70,000,000.
