Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații has made up three partners as part of a 13-strong promotion round. Cristian Radu, Vlad Cercel and Dragoș Apostol have joined the firm’s partnership ranks, bringing the total number of Partners to 24. The firm separately made up 10 lawyers to the role of Managing Associate or Senior Associate across its real estate, dispute resolution, energy, IP and corporate/M&A practice groups. The appointments are effective from January 1st, 2014.

Romanian independent outfit Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații advised US giant Electronic Arts Inc. on the largest transaction in the office market in Romania so far. Electronic Arts concluded a long-term lease agreement with real estate developer AFI Europe on the leasing of 11,500 sqm of office premises in landmark AFI Park 2 building.

Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații acted for Getin Holding as it sealed its first deal in the Romanian market. The Romanian independent law firm has advised the fastest growing Polish financial group throughout its acquisition of the full 100% stake in the Romanian International Bank (RIB), a local lender dealing with individual clients and small- and medium-sized enterprises. The deal marks the first Romanian market entry by the Polish financial group, which also owns a number of banks and financial companies in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus.

Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP score a major arbitration victory before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). The Arbitration Tribunal of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) dismissed the request for arbitration filed by the Turkish investors Ömer Dede and Serdar Elhüseyni against Romania and, therefore, rejected claims of more than EUR 28 million. The award was rendered on September 5th, 2013.
