Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații is one of the most active transactional law firms in Romania and South-Eastern Europe (SEE), according to the number of M&A deals concluded in H1/2008. As revealed by the ISI DealWatch „Emerging Market M&A Deal Activity” report, Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații advised on M&A deals with an aggregate value of USD 861 million. The league tables compiled by ISI DealWatch rank Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații first in Romania and second in the SEE region by deal count.

Yesterday evening, CEZ Group and Continental Wind Partners LLC (CWP) concluded the sale of CWP’s adjacent Fantanele and Cogealac wind farms in Romania. The two projects will be the largest onshore wind farm in Europe with a total capacity of 600 megawatts, approximately double the size of the next largest fully permitted onshore wind farm in Europe, and triple the size of the largest current operational wind farm in Europe. Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații fielded a team of 10 lawyers led by Sorin Vlădescu, Partner. The team also included Irina Moinescu, Managing Associate and Mihaela Alexandrescu, Senior Associate.

Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații assisted the Greek real estate developer, Raptis Kavouras in the acquisition of more than a half of the French Village, following a EUR 68 million transaction. "It is one of the largest real estate transactions that took place in Bucharest since the beginning of this year, especially at a time when the echoes of the subprime crisis are still heard. As such, a deal worth EUR 68 million involving 1,6 hectares of plot of land is obviously a very interesting one”, said Dan Borbely, Partner with Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații and Co-head of the real estate practice group.

Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații has advised the investment fund Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Immobilienfonds (DEGI), part of Aberdeen Property Investors Group from Scotland, on the closure of a hundred million Euros deal for the takeover of the Iris Shopping Center in Bucharest which also includes an Auchan hypermarket. Ziarul Financiar, Romania's leading financial and business newspaper reported today that the transaction value amounts to EUR 147 million.
