The Financial Times: Florentin Țuca is the sole Romanian lawyer shortlisted for the Legal Innovator of the Year Award
Florentin Țuca, Managing Partner with Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații stands alone as sole Romanian lawyer who was nominated and then shortlisted for the “Legal Innovator of the Year Award”.
In 2007, the winner in this category was Mahnaz Malik, a lawyer who impressed the panel of judges with her initiative to set up the “Project Advocate” programme at Simmons & Simmons, aiming at providing legal representation to children detained in Pakistani jails. Last year, other 9 individuals stood out in this category, including the following ones: Jim Rice, Partner at Linklaters; Glen James, Partner at Slaughter and May; Chris Penn, General Counsel at Clifford Chance; Tony Angel, Managing Partner at Linklaters etc.
The award winner will be presented at the “Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards” ceremony on 16 October 2008. Coinciding with the awards announcements, the Financial Times will officially launch its third annual ranking of lawyers – “Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Report”.
According to the public information available on the Awards website, Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații will feature highly in this year’s FT Law 50, alongside well-known international law firms such as Allen & Overy; Ashurst; Baker & McKenzie; Clifford Chance; CMS Cameron McKenna; DLA Piper; Eversheds; Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer; Garrigues; Herbert Smith; Linklaters; Lovells; Simmons & Simmons; Slaughter and May; Weil Gotshal & Mangues; Wolf Theiss.
For the second year running, Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații came to the attention of the Financial Times’ journalists. In 2007, the Romanian law firm was the sole Eastern European firm featured in the “Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Report” and ranked 16th in FT Law 50 of the most innovative law firms across Europe.
The “Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards” ceremony will be attended by over 400 noteworthy professionals in the legal community. According to the organizers, there will be a total of 13 awards of excellence granted to the most outstanding practitioners in the legal professions.
