The Lawyer European Awards: Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații, among the winning law firms
The Lawyer magazine has revealed the winners of The Lawyer European Awards 2014 at a ceremony held in London on February 20th.
The list has also just been made public on www.thelawyer.com and includes Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații as a winner of the "Law Firm of the Year: Romania" award.
According to The Lawyer:
"Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații had a solid 2012/13, with a sound turnover rise and a sizeable increase in new client wins, including both local and international companies. That was reflected in a good deal list, with the firm advising companies such as Vodafone Romania on its network-sharing agreement with Orange Romania, the first such agreement in the jurisdiction. The firm made a rare, high-profile lateral hire in mid-2013, with the arrival of corporate and banking partner Cătălin Băiculescu – a former managing partner of rival Mușat & Asociații.
Strategically, 2012 and early 2013 saw Țuca Zbârcea continue its commitment to pro bono activities. The firm contributes up to 3 per cent of billable hours to pro bono and corporate social responsibility activities annually, and last year helped to develop Romania’s first-ever art management courses, capitalising on its expertise in art law.
Meanwhile, the firm is collaborating with the University of Bucharest to offer an academic programme to students, providing them with training and experience on business law issues. Delivered at the firm’s offices by partners, the programme is designed to give students a better insight into business law to fill the gap between knowledge and practice. The course is an example of the type of innovation that persuaded judges to name Țuca Zbârcea Romanian Firm of the Year.”
