Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații makes a strategic move on the market
Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații will widen its scope of business interests through an exclusive off-counsel association with George Musliu and his team. Together, they will share a platform of integrated services, based on an interdisciplinary integration of law and economics.
George Musliu led the Merger and Antitrust Department as Vice-President of the Competition Council from 2004 to 2006, a period in which the Romanian competition authority was recognized by the European Commission.
This association aiming to combine legal services and economic analysis of competition is a first in Romania. "Our competition department consists of lawyers with 7-8 years of experience in this field. They have, over time, dealt with dozens of competition-related cases and are now able to provide both legal assistance and economic advice on virtually all aspects of competition law cases, drawing on robust economic analysis and quantitative techniques: from merger & antitrust clearances, notifications for Competition Council clearance under the state aid rules to competition investigations, dawn raids and proceedings", said Ștefan Damian, Deputy Managing Partner at Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații and head of the Competition Department of the firm.
George Musliu explains the reasons behind the association of his team with Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații: "Competition cannot and must not be approached strictly from a legal perspective. Economic aspects are also an integral part of the substance of a competition issue, an area from which, through an intelligent approach, solutions are born".
According to Ștefan Damian and George Musliu, this association comes as a natural development and is in line with the practice of large law firms in Western Europe where providing integrated legal and economic services is already a tradition. Both Damian and Musliu agree that this modern assessment of competition law is "the future of competition" and that "it will be a success".
