For the second time in a row, Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații has this year again been awarded the Law Firm of the Year at the fourth Annual Investment Awards Gala organised by the English-language magazine Business Review. An independent panel of judges consisting of top representatives of the Romanian business community chose Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații as the winner in the Law Firm of the Year category from a list of 4 international and local law firms.

Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații broke the €20,000,000 turnover barrier for the first time. According to the data provided by the Romanian law firm, the turnover reached €23,572,074 (VAT included) in 2008 while the revenues stood at a healthy €21,449,275 (VAT included).

Gabriel Zbârcea, Managing Partner with Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații was handed the MR. RON Silver Award at the gala organized by Săptămâna Financiară on Monday, March 09th. The ceremony recognized the persons or institutions that have shown remarkable performances during 2008, in various fields of the economic and political life. Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații received the MR. RON Silver Award for “being one of the most innovative law firms in Central and Eastern Europe, according to the Financial Times”.

Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații set up TZA Insolvență SPRL, an entity which is to manage the liquidation and insolvency projects of the law firm. The new professional limited liability company was registered with the National Union of Insolvency Practitioners of Romania on January 23, the current year. “Ever since the year 2008, we have intended to create a distinct entity to manage our current and future projects of reorganizations, liquidation and insolvency. Already benefiting from a well-developed practice and a close-knit team, our purpose was to increase visibility of our practitioners on this market, by also drawing a distinction between Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații – the law firm and TZA Insolvență SPRL – the insolvency company”, mentioned Gabriel Zbârcea, Managing Partner of Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații. The new entity will operate, in a first stage, with a team of 7 insolvency practitioners, being coordinated by Robert Roșu, Partner of the Litigation and Arbitration department of Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații.

Media giant Thomson Reuters has recently released the rankings of the law firms involvement within the M&A market during 2008. Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații was ranked 1st in the latest Thomson Reuters’ „2008 Romanian Legal M&A Advisory League Tables”. Thomson Reuters produces rankings according to many various criteria. The eligibility for inclusion is assessed depending on the value of the transaction on announcement, the type of the transaction and the completion status. For example, the real estate deals with a value of less than $100 million, the land deals, the targets which are yet to become operational are not included in the database.
