Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații acts on one of the largest deals in the TMT sector so far
Romanian independent powerhouse Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații has led one of the most significant deals in the telecom sector in Romania so far. The firm advised Direct One, a Romanian-owned company that has developed its own nationwide high-capacity fiber optic network, on taking over Netcity Telecom, the operator of the capital Bucharest's underground fiber optic network.
Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații fielded a team of lawyers led by Partners Cătălin Băiculescu and Vlad Cercel. They are both highly experienced in the structuring and negotiation of major deals in the IT&C sector, and top ranked for their expertise in TMT by major legal directories such as Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500.
"We are delighted by the prospect of this acquisition which allows a company owned 100% by Romanian entrepreneurs to expand on the national market for telecom infrastructure. Our wish is to serve the needs of all telecom operators in a transparent and uniform manner and we hope to be able to expand the network in a way which is both economically viable and compliant with relevant legislation", mentioned Marian Pantazescu, Chairman of Direct One's Board of Directors.
The acquisition allows Direct One to expand on the local telecom infrastructure market and will further contribute to the development of the network which currently consists of around 1,000km of fiber optic. Netcity Telecom operates under a 49-year concession agreement concluded with the Bucharest municipality in 2008.
